More information

The course area

The course takes place at the Becske National Retreat Center. Here you will find the registration point, the cafeteria — with coffee, snacks and drinks — and the dharma shop.

Food

During registration you can choose to attend with or without meals. Please note that if you choose the option without meals, on-site options will be limited: we cannot guarantee that you will be able to purchase breakfast, lunch or dinner, so it is a good idea to bring your own food.

Important deadline: meals must be requested by June 7, 2026 at the latest. After that date, only registration for the course programs will be possible.

Arriving by car

The venue is 75 km from Budapest, in Nógrád county. Please drive carefully, as the road may be potholed in several places. Be careful with wild animals as well!

GPS coordinates: 47.918729 N; 19.382093 E
(or 47°55’7.42″N; 19°22’55.90″E)

Arriving by train

The train departs from Budapest Keleti railway station with a transfer at Aszód, and finally you get off at Becske-Alsó; from there it is approximately 2 km on foot to the course area.

Arriving by bus

We are organizing a bus from the Budapest center to Becske. You can indicate your interest during registration. The bus seats 50 people, so places are limited.

  • Outbound – departure: Friday, June 12, 2026, 14:00 — Diamond Way Buddhist Center, Budapest
  • Return – departure: Sunday, June 14, 2026, 16:00 — Diamond Way National Retreat Center, Becske
Parking

When arriving in Becske we will redirect the road — please follow the posted signs. Parking is provided near the course area.

Car sharing

Please join this Signal group to help each other with lifts between Budapest and Becske. The group also includes an Excel file so you can plan ahead and share contact and travel details.

Payment

You can pay with cash (EUR and HUF) as well as by card. Change will always be given in HUF; we are unable to provide currency exchange.

Translation

The teachings and the empowerment will be in English. Translation will be provided during the teachings and the empowerment.

A limited number of FM radios will be available to rent on-site. We recommend that you bring your own digital FM radio — it is more convenient for you and a great help to the organizing team.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not available in the Marpa house.

You can book accommodation in Becske or in the smaller surrounding villages, depending on availability. For options, check booking sites such as booking.com.

During the course you can also camp on-site, directly in the event area. Please bring your own camping equipment, as rentals are not available. Bring a waterproof tent and a warm sleeping bag.

If you are arriving with a caravan or camper van, a designated parking area will be available.

Weather

Please check the weather forecast and bring warmer clothing as well. Due to the nature of the location, evenings can be cool and rain may come suddenly during the day — a warm jacket and waterproof footwear are always a good idea.

Prepare for all four seasons. It is a good idea to bring rain boots, a raincoat, and warm clothes for the nights, which can be really cold.

Children at the course

Childcare will be provided during the teachings and the empowerment.

Volunteering

The entire course is organized and run by the joyful work of a volunteer team. If you have surplus energy to give a few hours and become part of this great team effort, get in touch with the folks at the Job Center (close to the registration tent).

Info for digital nomads

If you need to work during the course, note that we cannot provide a working space on site. Space is quite limited, and we aim to make the course as focused on dharma and meditation as possible.

There is WiFi throughout the cafeteria tent, but it is often slow and unreliable. You may want to use your own hotspot instead and plan accordingly.
